Comparison · LibWatch vs. Dependency-Track

LibWatch or OWASP Dependency-Track: host it yourself, or hand it off?

Dependency-Track is open source and powerful, but you have to host it and feed it SBOMs generated elsewhere. LibWatch reads your repositories directly and exports CycloneDX SBOMs that Dependency-Track can import.

Comparison based on Dependency-Track's public pages as of October 22, 2026. Spotted a mistake? Let us know and we'll fix it.

Frequently asked questions

LibWatch vs. Dependency-Track

Can I use both?
Yes. Many teams keep their existing tool and add LibWatch for end of life, WordPress or GitLab.
Do I lose my history when I switch?
Your current tool's history is not imported: it stays available there as long as you keep your account. LibWatch keeps its own history from the first analysis.
Does LibWatch open update pull requests?
No, not today. LibWatch tells you what to fix and which version to choose; the update itself stays in your hands.
